Full Description

Loose rubble and pieces of worked stone were cleared from 3 areas. In the external angle formed by the S aisle and S transept was a substantial pile of small pieces of mixed stone rubble. This included a piece of oolitic limestone 320mm x 160mm x 295mm, bearing interlace design on one face. This piece had clearly been reused as a walling stone. Its interlace design is generally believed to date from the Anglo-Saxon period. (1)
See L12275 for medieval and later finds from the site, L842 for Norman structure of church.
