Description

New 2.3m x 85cm doorway was cut through internal wall of spiral staircase to provide ac-cess to a new bell-ringer’s gallery under a watching brief undertaken by Trent and Peak Archaeo-logical Unit. This revealed that the wall narrows from 64cm to less than 30cm and 2 hazelnut shells were found embedded in the mortar.
