Description

Dendrochronological analysis was undertaken on samples taken from timbers of the bellframe at this church. This resulted in the construction and dating of a single site se-quence. Site sequence contains ten samples and spans the period AD 1520-1665. Interpretation of surviving sapwood suggests the felling of all timbers occurred in AD 1665, with construction likely to have followed shortly after. The report contains further information regarding the methodology and sample descriptions. The report states that it was reported on the 11/10/1665 that the church was in good repair, with the exception of the bellframe which they intended to repair http://southwellchurches.nottingham.ac.uk/kneesall/hintro.php
