Full Description

Consists of nave with clerestory, aisles, chancel and W tower. C13/C14/C15. A rich W tower of 1425. Fragments of Anglo Saxon shaft. 11 C15 pews, old font, fittings otherwise renewed. (1)
Walls … would appear to belong to the east end of a chancel and to a later apse. A range of pottery included two sherds of Torksey ware. The suggestion that Roman building materials may have been utilised in the Phase I wall … may reinforce the suspicion that the phase I wall falls within the Saxon period. (2)
Beelframe: Tree-ring dating analysis suggested that felling of all timbers sampled from the bellframe occurred in AD 1665, with construction likely to have followed shortly after. (3)
