Description

EMAB 1962, p.23. At rear of shop selling hardware opp. Red Lion Inn; small courtyard with 18th c. house facing. In courtyard pieces of carved medieval masonry probably from Flawford (1). Site visit by HER in 2018 identified the likely courtyard opposite the Red Lion. Framwork knitters cottage likely to be the 18th c. house. Courtyard modernised and no trace of medieval masonry. Site visit also identified the site of the previous Red Lion Inn as Red Lion Cottage, 9 Vicarage Lane (2).
