Description

20 timber samples (cores) were taken from Worksop Priory Gatehouse in 1995. Analysis of 9 samples from the main roof gave a felling date of c.1463. 2 samples from the under-croft produced a felling date of c.1389. 2 samples from the extension of the main roof had a felling date of 1661. A single sample from a strut to the main truss of the main roof gave a felling date of late 1666 to early 1667.
