Description
These four trenches are a part of a larger project which excavated six trial trenches following the geophysical survey of an area in Moor Pond Wood, seeking to clarify the siting of 3 mills and their associated earth works. The trenches verified the presence of architectural features and features identified in the geophysical survey. These four trenches were placed in the footprint of Grange Mill. Trench 2 uncovered a depression, probably from the previous mill wheel, and trench 3 uncovered a heated garden wall. Trenches 1 did not yield any results, and trench 4 uncovered an unrelated, later field wall.
