Description

A field survey was conducted using an electronic digital theolodite to complete, through CAD, a set of cross-profiles and a plan a part of the mill system not previously recorded in detail. The profiles were set out at intervals to determine the varying heights and relationships of the separate lengths of leats, ponds, and the River Leen. A plan was also made of the earthworks and depressoins south of Papplewick Lane which had not been surveyed to great accuracy before. The survey stretched from Papplewick Lane in the north to Grange Farm in the south. In 2003, six test trenches were dug to assess and validate the results from the EDM survey.
