Description
The survey was undertaken using four Bartington Grad601 sensors mounted at 1m intervals onto a rigid carrying frame. The system was programmed to take readings at a frequency of 10Hz (allowing for a 10-15cm sample interval) on roaming traverses (swaths) 4m apart. MLGrad601 and MultiGrad601 (Geomar Software Inc) software was used to collect and export the data. There were three important results: 1.) a field system and enclosure which predates the current system; 2.) a 40m x 40m circular enclosure (unsure whether it relates to earlier or later field system; it respects the later system, however; 3.) Circular anomaly, 10-12m in diameter, which may be the ploughed down remains of a round barrow. Conclusion: Evidence of possible settlement activity, and the results corroborate the conclusions of a DBA done by Trent and Peak (which found Bronze Age artifact scatters throughout the fields).
