Description
The site is located on the eastern side of Collingham on the southern side of
Swinderby Road at National Grid Reference SK 83775 61732. The proposed development area encompasses some 8.5 hectares.
The magnetic survey was carried out using a dual sensor Grad601-2 Magnetic Gradiometer manufactured by Bartington Instruments Ltd. Readings were taken at 0.25m centres along traverses 1m apart.
Several discontinuous, but straight, alignments of small bipolar anomalies are likely to represent the former locations of modern temporary field boundaries. No positive anomalies of clear archaeological origin have been identified. A number of discrete positive responses might represent isolated pit features but these are not strong and would be difficult to interpret on the basis of form alone.
