Description

The site lies on the northern side of Wilford Lane along the very western edge of West Bridgford to the immediate east of the dismantled railway that forms the Nottingham City boundary. Trenches were placed throughout the site to cover most of the diverse areas. Trenches 1-3, 6 and 7 were placed on areas stripped of vegetation. Trenches 4 and 7 were placed on a gravel drive and the car park respectively. All the initial exploratory trenches were 20m long and 1.6m wide, except Trench 6, which was 25m long. Trenches were excavated to around 0.5m depth, deeper in some areas. No archaeological features or finds associated with archaeological features were identified in any trenches.
