Description

A watching brief was conducted during groundworks associated with the construction of a new leisure centre off Bowbridge Road, Newark, Nottinghamshire. The monitoring for this development included the topsoil strip for the track-way and the building footprint. Following this, the foundation trenches were excavated and monitored, and 4 sections were drawn. No archaeological features were apparent apart from a concentration of late 19th century bricks in the southeast part of the site. This demolition debris represents a building shown on maps dating from the late 19th to mid 20th centuries.
