Description
The site was in Blyth, a village located in the north-western part of the Bassetlaw District of Nottinghamshire. The site was positioned at the south-eastern periphery of the village on land (laid out as a garden) to the rear of Aysgarth House and Broomfield House.
The site was evaluated by the excavation of three trenches amounting to a 4% sample of the proposed development area. A metal detector search was undertaken using a Garrett PROformance ACE 250 detector set to the ‘all metal’ function. The excavated spoil and bases of each trench were scanned for metal objects.
No archaeological remains were identified in the trenches.
