Description

Located to the north of Langold, the site comprises arable land totalling c.12.95 hectares. With the results of the geophysical survey being available, trial trenching was deemed the most appropriate method to further characterise the archaeology of the proposed development area. Fifty-six trenches were excavated, all of which were 50m long and 2m wide. Trench 32 was split into two parts so that access could be maintained. During the trial trenching, no archaeological features were observed in any of the trenches. A number of possible features were investigated and were found to be of natural origin. Several sherds of modern pottery were present within the ploughsoil and subsoil layers but were not retained.
