Description

The site is located at 132 Wagstaff Lane, at the north-eastern edge of the village of Jacksdale, Nottinghamshire. It is situated on the south-eastern side of Wagstaff Lane and is surrounded on all sides by residential properties. Agricultural land surrounds the village to its north, south and east, with the village of Ironville situated to its west. Continuous archaeological monitoring of intrusive ground works was carried out on the excavation of the foundations for three new dwellings on land at 132 Wagstaff Lane, Jacksdale. A layer of re-deposited natural material was identified along with a layer of topsoil which contained debris associated with the demolition of a dwelling that was previously located on the site. No archaeological structures, deposits or features were recorded during the course of the watching brief. No finds were recovered during the course of the watching brief.
