Description

The evaluation area comprised a parcel of land located south of Torksey Ferry Road and Cottam Power Station, Rampton, Nottinghamshire. A total of five evaluation trenches were excavated, investigated and recorded within the field. Five trial trenches, each measuring 50 m in length and 2 m wide, were excavated in level spits using a 360ยบ excavator equipped with a toothless bucket, under the constant supervision and instruction of the monitoring archaeologist. One of the five trenches contained archaeological remains, comprising a single pit of unknown date or function. No artefacts or ecofacts were recovered.
