Description

The site was located at Gateford Toll on the western edge of Gateford bounded by the B6041 Gateford Road to the north with the A57 directly west. The assessment area consisted of a portion (3.4ha) of a larger arable field. The field was one of two fields within a seventeen hectare assessment area covered by two heritage impact statements. A watching brief was carried out during the groundworks in the area. This involved the observation of the foundation trench excavation for the scheme by an experienced professional archaeologist. The watching brief revealed no archaeological features or finds.
