An archaeological evaluation and watching brief was carried out on land south of Gateford Road, Gateford, Worksop, Nottinghamshire. The work was undertaken in July 2022, in advance of residential development. Seventeen 30m long evaluation trenches were excavated across the site. All of the trenches were negative for archaeological remains, with one trench containing evidence for root action. Recent landscaping included the removal of top soils across large parts of the evaluation area. A watching brief was also carried out on the excavation of foundation slots towards the north-western corner of the site. All were negative for archaeological remains.
