Description

The site is located on the southern side of Sutton-cum-Lound west of Sutton Lane. In total the site covers an area of approximately 1.4ha whilst the proposed development area measures c.0.48ha. Two trenches were excavated across the site. They both measured 30m x 2m and sampled a total area of 120m2. The trenches were located in the centre of the area designated for groundworks. Two shallow pits were identified in one trench, both of which contained charcoal rich fills, and are thought to represent refuse pits for the disposal of biodegradable waste associated with settlement and agricultural activities.
