Description

The Site comprises fields covering c.15.1 hectares, bounded by Kirk Ley Road to the west, Sheepwash Brook to the north, fields to the east and Rempstone Road to the south. Of the original planned eighteen trenches only sixteen were opened due to access restrictions. At the time of the archaeological trial trenching groundworks associated with the residential development had already began. The only features recorded were the bases of possibly Late- medieval furrows which were located in a total of six of the trenches. The furrows were all aligned northeast to southwest and respect the existing field system.
