Abstract/Summary

A programme of archaeological trial trench evaluation was undertaken on land off Kirk Ley, Road, East Leake, Nottinghamshire. The work was undertaken in advance of the construction of residential development with associated infrastructure. The only features recorded were the bases of possibly Late- medieval furrows, which were identified in six of the trenches. Although truncated by later ploughing most examples survived to a width of c.1.0 m and a depth of up to 0.5 m. Where two or more furrows were located in a single trench the spacing between was seen to be regular and was on average between 5.0 m and 6.0m. No finds that may have dated the furrows were recovered. The furrows were all aligned northeast to southwest and respect the existing field system.
