Description

The site lies 100m northwest of All Saints Church in Beckingham. The total area of the site is 1.2ha, encompassing one field. The site is bounded by Church Street to the south and open fields to the north, with housing to the east and west. The tops and bottoms of all visible slopes in the field were recorded with a survey grade GPS and supplemented with a photographic record and analyses of lidar information. An earthwork survey north of Church Street, Beckingham, recorded an area of ridge and furrow cultivation which fits a pattern of such earthworks in the area. In addition a track and land boundary known from historical mapping was identified and a possible building platform was highlighted, fronting onto Church Street.
