Description

The Scheme is located in Nottinghamshire, starting in the west near Halam and ending at Cooks Lane, Southwell. The Scheme traverses the southern outskirts of the village of Halam. The Scheme continues to traverse eastwards crossing Saversick Lane before terminating at Cook Lane to the west of Southwell. Groundworks were monitored by a suitably qualified archaeologist. Any archaeological remains that may be revealed during the watching brief were recorded in accordance with current industry best practice. Where archaeological features and deposits are encountered, excavation will be carried out by hand. Remains associated with ridge and furrow cultivation visible on satellite imagery was encountered. Post-medieval to modern field drains were present in some areas. Modern disturbance appeared along the length of the Scheme. A natural wide but shallow gully was observed in one area. No other archaeological features or deposits were observed during groundworks.
