The proposed development site is located on land north of Warren Peafield Farm, east of Peafield Lane, c. 5km northeast of Mansfield. The survey area is situated on land in use as one agricultural field. The survey area totals approximately 26.5 ha and consists of one field. The area is relatively flat, bordered by Peafield Lane to the west and other agricultural land on the remaining sides. The survey was carried out using a Sensys MAGNETO® MXPDA push-cart magnetometer system. The cart utilises eight FGM650/3 fluxgate gradiometer sensors mounted upon a frame along with data logging equipment and batteries. Data was collected using zig-zag traverses alongside a constant stream of GPS data collected through a Trimble R10 GPS. The survey area is characterized by a relatively magnetically noisy background, most likely due to local geology and/or ferrous debris in the topsoil. Magnetic disturbance is visible in forms of haloes caused by fencing. Anomalies of a natural origin have been identified and relate to variations in the superficial deposits. Anomalies of a possible archaeological origin have been detected in the western part of the survey area. These are fragmentary but may indicate an undated field boundary. Anomalies of an agricultural origin have been identified in the form of a possible historic field boundary, modern ploughing trends and modern drains.
