Description
The Site comprises a single plot of land, a lawned garden, measuring c. 0.09ha. The Site is bounded to the north by Meadow Farm, to the east by Laneham Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, to the south by Main Street, and to the west by Tangletrees. Site boundaries comprise a mature hedge and gate, to the south, timber fencing to the north, and temporary Heras fencing to the west.
This report comments on the evolution of the historic environment both within the Site and its wider surroundings and identifies known and potential heritage assets within the Site, and beyond the Site boundary, which may be affected by the proposed development. Both physical and non-physical (i.e., as a result of change to setting) effects upon the significance of those heritage assets are then assessed.
Based on an assessment of the Site’s topographical and geological profile, HER data, historical mapping, other documentary research, and a consideration of past impacts within the Site area, the Site is assessed to have a negligible potential for significant archaeological remains of all dates. Importantly, there is no evidence to suggest that any part of the Site formed a burial ground for the adjacent Laneham Wesleyan Methodist Chapel.
