Title Plot 2, Tangletrees, Laneham: Historic Environment Desk-Based Assessment
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2023

Abstract/Summary

A Historic Environment Desk-based Assessment was undertaken in relation to a residential development on land at Tangletrees, Main Street, Laneham, Retford, Nottinghamshire. This report comments on the evolution of the historic environment both within the Site and its wider surroundings and identifies known and potential heritage assets within the Site, and beyond the Site boundary, which may be affected by the proposed development. Both physical and non-physical (i.e., as a result of change to setting) effects upon the significance of those heritage assets are then assessed. Based on an assessment of the Site’s topographical and geological profile, HER data, historical mapping, other documentary research, and a consideration of past impacts within the Site area, the Site is assessed to have a negligible potential for significant archaeological remains of all dates. Importantly, there is no evidence to suggest that any part of the Site formed a burial ground for the adjacent Laneham Wesleyan Methodist Chapel.
