A watching brief was undertaken on the installation of a tea-point and toilet in the west end of the church, with drainage to a septic tank under the footpath to the south door. The evidence suggested that the four burials were Christian and most lilely to have been interred in the 1830's. The entrance gate from the adjacent lane is towards the south-west angle of the churchyard. Surface topography implied a former footpath leading northward, as would be expected had the original main door been at the west end of the church. Re-positioning the door on the south side may have been accomodated by another path leading off at right-angles. Speculatively, worshippers may have taken a short-cut diagonally through the churchyard. If so, this would have contributed to a belated decision to adopt the more direct route by laying the existing footpath north-eastward from the gate to the south door. Dates on nearby gravestones imply that the footpath was laid after c.1840.
