Description
It was decided in 1976 to examine a somewhat larger stretch of the S rampart than was possible in 1972. Mechanical removal of the modern overburden and of the remains immediately underlying Georgian buildings was carried out immediately to the W of the 1972 trench and an area free of cellars and measuring 6m x 4.5m was selected for excavation. See E101 for 1972 excavation, E274 for excavation further W.
