Evaluation trenches were excavated in advance of proposed development. Medieval cloister walls were recorded. Medieval masonry was found at a depth of under 2m below floor level, under a thin dirty layer of ash, coal, and mortar. Two flat stones and the remains of a third were set out in a line and set into lightly cut natural clay. Excavation of Trench 1 – 0.6 x 2m East of and adjacent to farmhouse. Excavation revealed modern footings and possible evidence of medieval yard metalling or perhaps light demolition material.
