Standard 11008/41 Battle Headquarters. (1)

Steps lead down to a brick-built subterranean multi-room structure with concrete slab roof. Roof is raised on metal brackets to create 360o lookout slit between the subterranean structure and the roof. Sited to give uninterrupted 360o site lines. (2)

'Battle Headquarters' or 'Battle HQs' were built on high ground giving a 360o clear view of the airfield and were usually below-ground or semi-sunken structures. (3)
