Full Description

This layer (L11440) was cut into by a gully overlying the earlier gully and covering the layer was a thin layer of pebbles and gravel which may have been a yard surface. It was cut through by a brick lined drain which ran roughly N-S towards the standing C19 malthouse. The possible yard surface and drain were sealed by a garden soil containing post medieval pottery, glass and bone. (1)
See L11439 for earlier features with Med finds, L11440 for layer with Med - P Med pottery, L11442 for P Med ditch and cross refs to Trench 2.
