Description

A trial excavation was carried out 28 - 31 August 1990 directed by Dr John Samuels with a small professional team from Lindsey Archaeological Services. Two trenches were opened with the modern material removed by machine and then excavated by hand. Trench 1 measured 6.5m x 2.5 - 3m. A second trench 15m x 1.5m was excavated parallel to Pelham Street. (1) See E9166 for nearby watching brief. Grid reference centred on trench 01.
