Full Description

Cable Trench watchiing brief. A large unabraded rim fragment of handmade Saxon pottery was obtained from trench 3. The exact location is unknown, but it derived from spoil excavated from the cable trench adjacent to Oddhouse Close, c 100m NE of the northern defences of Ad Pontem. The rim is unmoulded, with an uneven flattened lip, and apparently derives from a thin walled neckless bowl of ovoid or related form (of approximate diameter 11cm). Both surfaces are smoothed. Traces of burnt matter survive on the inner surface. (1)
