Full Description

Fieldwalking after cutting of drainage trenches. Three sherds were possibly of Anglo-Saxon date, and might be related to the Anglo-Saxon cemetery, although they were scattered through the field and not concentrated at the N end where the excavated part of the cemetery lies. It seems likely that quantities of human bone would have been observed if the cemetery had significantly extended into the fieldwalked area... Three handmade bodysherds were identified, two with granitic and micaceous inclusions and one with argillaceous inclusions, identified tentatively as Mercia Mudstone. These sherds are likely to be Anglo Saxon in date, although the possibility of a prehistoric attribution cannot be ruled out altogether. (1)
