Full Description

Watching brief on pipeline. An easement was stripped of soil in Area C (in field 7556). A bronze disc and two groups of pottery (each parts of one pot) were found within the stripped easement. One C19/C20 pot, one riim in white fabric and yellow / green glaze usually ascribed to manufacture on the coal measures and dated from mid C14 to early C17. The bronze disc is almost certainly medieval and was probably a decorative mount, which was used several times as the rivet stump was probably repaired and a perforation made to the face. (1)
See L10728 for cropmarks in this field.
