Full Description

Trench 5 - A large curvilinear ditch (503), measured 2m wide by 0.55m deep and a small assemblage of animal bone was recovered from its fill. A small linear slot (508) cut ditch 503. Two sherds of probable medieval / post medieval pottery were recovered from its fill. To the E a large boundary ditch truncated ditch 503, it was over 2m wide and at least 0.85m deep. Further E was another large ditch, whose full dimensions went beyond the limit of excavation. Its maximum excavated depth was 0.56m. Two pieces of clay pipe stem were recovered from approximately 0.5m deep within its fill. (1)
