Full Description
Trench 1 - A long, narrow, slightly curving linear feature. … A very slight feature. … A linear feature running N-S, 1.3m wide and 0.5m deep, containing IA pottery. … A narrow linear feature running N-S c.0.8m wide and 0.5m deep containing IA pottery. … A broad linear feature. Trench 2 - a linear feature with IA pottery. … Three features containing identical fills including IA pottery. … A large rectangular cut which cut a smaller feature, a short section of linear feature that ran NE-SW. The features in trenches 1, 2 and 3 do not correspond with the linear cropmark. However, pottery retrieved from a number of the features dated them to the Iron Age. Their layout and date suggests that they are part of an enclosure that may have associated settlement remains. Good preservation of these features, sealed beneath an alluvial subsoil. (1)
