Full Description

Earlier stone structures were revealed in several trenches, though damaged and stratigraphically isolated by late C19 - early C20 building activity. Wall foundations at A and B may have formed the sides of a stone drainage channel. A layer of unmortared sandstone setts at C formed a coherent surface, probabably of a yard or alley. At D was a wall foundation of partly mortared limestone rubble. Immediately adjacent to the S was a deposit of broken wine bottles of late C18. A large drain at E, partly mortared sandstone and partly pre-Victorian brick. Further wall foundations at F-J. (1)
See L12173 for ?musket ball, L12174 for later foundations.
