Full Description

Ro altar found in Granby churchyard in 1812. The stone has now disappeared. Andrew Esdaile, in whose possession it once was, describes it as 10in high and 5in square, with rude columns at the corners, and a hollow at the top; on the sides are carvings; on the front "a Ro figure" with helmet and toga, sword in left hand: on the sides "hieroglyphics" ie the head of a lamb with the body and wings of a dragon; on the back a "finely cut vegetable figure".
