Full Description

Although palaeochannel C was primarily outside the borrow pit several finds were recovered during the watching brief including a human femur, animal bones and several timbers. Small size and gracility of the bone and the short estimated stature suggest that the individual was female. The d13C value of -20.4 is indicative of a diet where all protein came from terrestrial sources. The d15N value … was 9.3 … would seem to indicate a diet high in animal protein. A large mammal rib had fine cut marks showing evidence of butchery. Roe deer tibia, five faint cut marks, typical skinning marks. (1)
