Full Description

A large pit feature. Cut natural gravel, the edge clearly affected by in-situ burning. The basal fill comprised of a light ashy sandy silt with frequent charcoal flecks. The latest surviving fill comprised of a silt with frequent brick fragments. The feature contained a small fragmented assemblage of animal bone and pottery dating to C17 - C18. May have been associated with lead smelting during Civil War. (1)
