Full Description
Consisting of nave with N aisle and chancel. Med alabaster effigy in chancel. Old font. (1)
St Anne, the church of Sutton. The N aisle … and the aisle belonging to it are C13. The chancel cannot be much later. The nave must be early C14. Monument to a man in armour … c.1475. (2)
A deed … from the Harleian MSS [dated to] "the beginning of Henry I or the end of William Rufus" [i.e. c.1100] … states that Gregorie de Diva gave the Church of St. Anne to the Priory of Calke. The present church [has a] Transitional Norman N aisle, Early English chancel [and] Decorated nave. (3)
