[The] crossing tower with spire [is] a rarity in Nottinghamshire. Its date is C13. The church is aisleless and also of the C13. Nave clerestory Perp. N transept 1889-90 by W. S. Weatherley. Font: octagonal, C14. Bench ends: a few old, plain ones. (1)

The oldest part ... is the tower, erected about the beginning of the C13th. The work of building [was] all within the first half of the C13th. In the C15th the important step was taken of raising the walls of the nave, and introducing an open roof with a lower pitch than before. (2)

The cruciform plan church, comprising a tower with spire, transepts, nave, south porch and chancel principally dates to the thirteenth century with early elements including the two stage tower, nave and chancel. The clearstory in the nave was added in the fifteenth century and the north transept built between 1889 and 1890 by W.S. Weatherley, repaired in 1938 and restored in 1913. A number of post-medieval graves lie in the north side of the churchyard. (3)
