Full Description

Geophysical survey, watching brief and trial excavations before building of new church hall, revealed P Med use of site, mainly associated with church extensions. (2)
Mostly of 1896-1911 by Naylor & Sale. It incorporates part of the medieval church, namely its dark grey W tower and its S aisle and nave separated by an arcade with octagonal piers, restored in 1872 by T. C. Hine. The nave has become the inner S aisle of the new church. The chancel [is] C14. (4)
There was no aisle on the north side. [In] the 15th century … the mason was set to work again to raise the walls of the nave and to make a range of clerestory windows. A new arcade of four bays was erected. (5)
Parts of the building belong to the early 13th century, or even the late 12th. The priest's door … piscina and aumbry are Early English. Considerable alterations took place in the early years of the 14th century. The building of the tower [was] at the beginning of the 16th century. (6)
