Full Description

Kinoulton SK 662304 - village merged or migrated. (1)
The site of St Wilfred's Church is surrounded by ridge and furrow, with the exception of the field centred at SK 662303, but this carries no evidence of being the site of a village. (2)
Kinoulton is a modern village of "ribbon" development. There are no adjacent signs of shrinkage. The isolated church has no near desertion. (3)
Newbold (lost) is Neubold 1086 DB. (4)
There is abundant evidence that the settlement and parish of Newbold lay in the central and western parts of the present parish of Kinoulton - see especially (6) and the Kinoulton Tithe award which show the area, known as Newbold, which paid tithes to Colston Bassett. (5)
See M825 for site of church, M7467 for Newbold chapel, M5437 for shifted part of Kinoulton.
Not drawn on SMR map.
