The red brick S entrance range with gateway and flanking towers is the principal surviving part of a great early C16 courtyard house. The N range, which contained the hall, was rebuilt by Robert Pierrepont in 1628 and demolished in the 1730s. It was rebuilt again in the 1870s, and is of no special interest. Next to it a Georgian block of c.1740. The rest of the E side is much altered. The south range, with lodgings for retainers of the kind characteristic of late medieval houses.
