Full Description
Considerably restored and rebuilt but still retains some interesting features; blocked up C13 S doorway; C14 N arcade and N chancel arcade are now built into the outer stuccoed wall; some old bench ends and a pulpit dated 1629. (1) (2)
The W tower has Norman windows (and once had spire). The arch into the nave is of c.1250 with demi-columns and plain moulded capitals. The whole was … repaired in 1777, the approximate date probably of the pulling down of the superfluous parts of the church. (2)
There is evidence of a large church at Granby in the C13 and by tradition, one much earlier. The present building is in poor condition, but in the chancel are some Med tiles similar to those found at Highfield, Nottm and Thurgarton Priory. (3)
See L7723 for nearby ridge and furrow.
