Full Description

All Saints Church, Strelley. Rebuilt by Sir Sampson Strelley, c.1356. Restored 1885. (1)
The W tower in its lower part … [is] C13. Chancel endowed in 1356 by Samson de Strelley. Transepts … [of] the second half of the [14th] century. The S porch also has nothing that would contradict the C14. The clerestory is the only addition to the church later than c.1400. Restored c.1850 by G. G. Place and again in 1895 by C. Hodgson Fowler. Med church consisting of nave with clerestory, aisles, chancel and W tower. Largely C14 with part of tower C13 and clerestory C15. Very handsome fabric containing rich contents including screen monuments, pulpit, glass, font etc. A very important building. A double brass of good quality to Sir Robert Strelley 1481 and his wife. Same work as at Clifton and Wollaton. (3)
The oldest part of the church is the tower, with a C12th lower stage. The rest of the church has been entirely rebuilt in the C14th. (4)

Three sherds of medieval pottery and 3 graves cuts uncovered during excavation for septic tank. (5)
