Full Description

An interesting house of about 1700 or somewhat earlier. Brick, two-storeyed, with an attic above a wooden modillion cornice. The attic is a later addition, shown on a design of 1805 (a date on the lead reads 1772). The wooden cornice suggests that the house was originally of the two-storey Coleshill or Belton type with a hipped roof with balustraded parapet and cupola. (1)
c.1700. Built for the Burnell family. The top storey [is an] 1838 addition. (2)
Large conservatory and landscaping (banking and steps). (3)
Named 'Hall'. (4)
A single sample produced a tentative date of c.1621 (as the sample had less than 80 rings the significance of the suggested date is reduced). (5)
See M3143 for church, M3592 for glasshouse, L3593 for pond.
