Hawton Mill (1)
Hawton Mill of George Scales and Son on Farndon Road which specialised in bleaching and in producing linen of fine quality for a national market for c 100 years (c 1793-1894). This was steam powered with boilers from Nicholson's ironworks. The site of the mill has now been built on. Earliest map appearance 1829. (2)
